Dermal fillers reduce the signs of aging by smoothing out wrinkles and replacing soft-tissue loss. They are used to add volume in certain areas, enhance features such as cheeks and lips, and eliminate wrinkles. Substances used as dermal fillers include hyaluronic acid, collagen, and fat. The dermal fillers we use at Hogue Cosmetic Surgery are Radiesse FN™ and Juvéderm®. Bear in mind that dermal fillers cannot be used to rejuvenate the hands, breasts, or any other part of the body besides the face.

At Hogue Cosmetic Surgery, we only use dermal fillers that are FDA-approved. As long as dermal fillers are administered by a qualified professional in a medical setting, they are safe.

Only dermal fillers containing substances derived from animal sources can provoke an allergic reaction. Both Radiesse FN™ and Juvéderm® are made of naturally occurring body substances and thus do not provoke an allergic reaction.

Dermal fillers for cosmetic purposes are typically administered to patients over the age of 30, but they are safe for most ages. However, dermal fillers should not be administered to anyone under the age of 18.

Hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers like Juvéderm® are appropriate for skin of any color because they are colorless and thus do not alter the color of the skin.

The results of treatment vary based on the patient and the dermal filler used. Radiesse FN™ has the longest lasting results of any dermal filler, with results typically lasting for one to two years. The results of Juvéderm® treatment typically last from six to eight months.
